Job summary

Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) is seeking a field-based sales professional to drive territory growth in Rhode Island. You will position as a product specialist, educate surgeons and OR staff, and manage current accounts while developing new ones.

Role emphasizes on-site product training, meeting sales and profitability goals, and travel of at least 60% to support hospitals and medical facilities. A Bachelor's degree and sales experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of 3 years general sales experience, medical sales preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, communication, organizational and planning skills.
• Detailed understanding of the needs/analysis approach to sales.
• Understands the product buyer concept.
• Understands contract administration.
• Understands principles of group purchasing to include research, formulating and recommend proposal.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and meet BD's auto safety standards.
• Must be able to meet and maintain customer/medical facility access requirements, including regular or periodic drug screenings with a satisfactory result in accordance with customer/medical facility serviced requirements.
• Ability to travel at least 60%, including overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Attain sales goals within the designated territory and budget.
• Grow sales of current accounts and establish new accounts.
• Position self as a product specialist.
• Educate and train surgeons, OR staff, and others on product usage.
• Provide on-site technical support during procedures to ensure accurate use of products.
• Maintain knowledge of BD products, channels and distribution.
• Meet territory sales and profitability goals.
• Develop new prospects and customers.
• Advise customers on new products, backorders, pricing, policy changes, and forecasts.
• Address customer complaints promptly and professionally.
• Attend meetings and tradeshows; provide post-convention reports.
