Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our Magnet-recognized nursing team. In MedSurg, under the supervision of the RN, you will provide direct clinical and support services to patients and families, contributing to a patient-centered care model and a supportive work environment focused on training and growth.

The 4 West unit provides general post-operative care across colorectal, oncology, gynecology, trauma and other services, with emphasis on certifications

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification with CPR current or obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to pass clinical competency testing.
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
• Basic math and computer proficiency.
• One year of PCT experience or nursing student with clinical rotations, or approved training, or EMT/field medic experience.
• Fluency in another language is a plus.
• Previous med/surg experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver delegated patient care interventions for MedSurg patients and families.
• Assist with vital signs, bathing, feeding, wound dressings, hygiene, room and linen cleaning, and emotional support.
• Maintain a safe, clean, equipped environment within MedSurg.
• Contribute to efficient department operations and patient/family outcomes.
