Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the MedSurg team on a 32-hour weekly schedule. The role involves direct patient care under RN supervision, supporting adults across multiple surgical units, and providing patient- and family-centered care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, assisting with hygiene and mobility, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS/CPR certification current or within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to pass clinical competency testing.
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities; basic math and computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated patient care interventions for MedSurg patients and families.
• Obtain vital signs, assist with bathing/feeding, wound dressing, hygiene, and emotional support.
• Maintain safe, clean environment and inventory for MedSurg patients.
• Contribute to efficient operation and quality patient/family outcomes.

Skills

BLS CPR certification

Clinical competency testing

Physical ability

One year of PCT experience

Nursing program enrollment

Fluency in another language

Medical/surgical experience

Education
