Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Medical Surgical/4 West Department. You will support RNs with direct patient care, perform basic nursing tasks, and contribute to a patient-centered care model.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and compassionate care for diverse patients. Requires BLS/CPR, high school diploma, and clinical competency; schedule includes days and every-other weekend/holiday shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS/CPR certification current or within 30 days of employment required.
• Ability to pass clinical competency testing required.
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
• Basic math and computer proficiency required.
• One of: 1 year as Patient Care Technician in acute hospital, nursing program with two clinical rotations completed, approved PCT training, approved certified medical assistant training, EMT/field medic experience (adult ED only).
• Fluency in another language a plus.
• Previous medical/surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated patient care interventions for MedSurg patients and families.
• Obtain vital signs, assist with hygiene, wound care, feeding, and emotional support.
• Maintain safe, clean environment; manage inventory and supplies in MedSurg.
• Contribute to efficient operation and quality patient/family outcomes.
