Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations in Salisbury, MD. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, and review lab results under Center Manager and Center Physician guidance.

Responsibilities include safety, adherence to SOPs, vaccination program support, and incident management, with a focus on high-quality donor care and compliance within a regulated plasma collection environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-I/EMT-P, LPN/LVN, or RN.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, and acceptance requirements.
• Assess donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies including transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical findings or donor safety issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/ER as needed.
