Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist in Washington to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, review test results, manage donor adverse events, and notify donors of unsuitable findings, all under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician.

You will also support vaccination programs, address donor safety, and contribute to EHS and overall center efficiency in a regulated plasma collection environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Licensed EMT-A and EMT-P in the applicable state.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions as per SOPs and manage medical emergencies including center physician standing orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical/technical issues, donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for further occupational health/ER evaluation; refer to EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemics.
