Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Medical Support Specialist at our Baltimore, MD plasma center. You will determine donor eligibility, review lab results, manage donor adverse events, and notify donors of unsuitable findings.

You work under the Center Manager and Center Physician for guidance. You should have EMT/paramedic or nursing licensure, CPR/AED certification, and at least two years in a clinical setting; FDA training for BioLife Medical Support is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with nursing program accreditation
• Current EMT/Paramedic, LPN/LVN, or RN license in the assignable state
• Current CPR and AED certification
• FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist completed
• Minimum two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidentiality
• Evaluate donor reactions following SOPs and manage medical emergencies
• Review laboratory test results and communicate with Center Physician
• Notify donors of unsuitable test results and maintain donor safety
• Support vaccination programs for employees and assist EHS
• Assist with occupational health/ER incident referrals and investigations
