Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Scheduling Clerk to coordinate outpatient appointments across radiology services. You will ensure courteous patient interactions, protect privacy, and maintain accurate documentation for insurance and pre-certification.

This role supports efficient office operations within a busy hospital setting. Qualifications include a high school diploma, 1–3 years in a medical setting, familiarity with medical terminology, and strong computer/keyboarding skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Associate's Degree with Medical Terminology preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in a medical setting; familiarity with medical terminology, computer/keyboarding, scheduling and/or registration.
• Excellent communication skills for interactions with physicians, patients, staff and management; ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Obtains necessary documentation for insurance and pre-certification; stays current with insurance requirements.
• Performs tasks related to operations in scheduling office to ensure efficient operations.
• Sets up, organizes and maintains ongoing systems (files, reports, records) for efficiency.
• Completes activities within assigned time frames.
• Prioritizes activities effectively.
• Communicates with service departments to meet patient needs and requests from physicians.
• Assists other staff during peak times as required.
• Has knowledge of procedures in all departments supported by Radiology Scheduling Service.
• Accurately schedules single/multiple procedures per department requirements.
• Meets performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and self-development.
• Provides other duties as assigned to ensure smooth departmental operations.
