Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a detail‑oriented Medical Office Specialist to support outpatient operations. You will handle front desk functions, assist with scheduling, registrations, and check-out, and ensure patients receive optimal care and experience during each visit.

You will maintain patient confidentiality, process payments, and coordinate with care teams while supporting multiple locations as needed. Strong communication and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associates degree preferred.
• 1+ years in customer service in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with computers and common software platforms.
• EMR/EHR experience a plus; ability to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients and visitors; ensure courteous, prompt check-in and check-out.
• Manage patient information in the EMR system and verify demographics.
• Process payments, collect copayments, and reconcile daily cash deposits.
• Route communications via EMR, phone, email, and other channels; escalate issues when needed.
