Job summary

VillageMD in Short Hills, NJ is seeking a Patient Service Representative to greet patients, manage registration, verify insurance, and schedule appointments across satellite offices. The role emphasizes friendly, efficient service and accurate data entry in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma (Associate preferred), excellent English communication, and experience with EHR/practice management systems.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• Associate Degree preferred.
• Excellent English communication skills (oral & written).
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks efficiently.
• Knowledge of medical office terminology preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency required.
• Experience with EHR and practice management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors, patients, and families in a friendly professional manner and directs them appropriately.
• Maintains an efficient patient flow through the registration process and provides excellent customer service to patients/families.
• Promptly answers the telephone, directs calls, takes messages, and demonstrates appropriate etiquette.
• Informs patients of delays and assists with patient comfort while waiting.
• Posts self-pay charges, collects payments, and provides receipts; reconciles daily payments.
• Opens/closes batches, reconciles collections, prepares deposits and documents corrections.
• Scans insurance cards, processes verifications, updates patient accounts and demographics.
