Job summary

Mercy Health in Youngstown, OH is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) at St. Charles Hospital. The MLS performs routine tests on blood, tissues and specimens, ensuring accurate results and patient safety according to lab procedures.

The role requires a BS in CLS/MLS/Bio/Biochem through a CLIA-approved program and MLS certification or eligibility (ASCP preferred). Externship completion is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry (CLIA approved program).
• MLS Certification or eligible by a recognized agency (ASCP preferred).
• Externship program completed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs routine analytical tests on blood, tissues and specimens following lab procedures.
• Evaluates specimen acceptability by visual inspection and results consistency.
• Monitors quality control and ensures patient results are accurate and timely.
• Maintains a safe, clean work area and operates lab equipment per policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
