Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

The MLS will perform routine tests on blood, tissues, and specimens, providing physicians with accurate results using various clinical lab instruments, while upholding patient safety and confidentiality. Required are a Bachelor of Science in CLIA-approved clinical lab science and MLS certification or eligibility, with preferred externship completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a CLIA approved program (required)
• MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)
• Externship program completed (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Performs routine analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, accurate manner per procedures
• Determines specimen acceptability and recognizes abnormal/unusual results
• Performs quality control and ensures results meet established ranges before reporting
• Maintains safe, clean work environment and troubleshoots equipment
• Other duties as assigned
