Job summary

Mercy Health in Warren, Ohio is seeking a Lead Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for the Core Laboratory at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

You will perform a full range of laboratory testing and deliver quality results to physicians while supporting the Technical Specialist in operations. The ideal candidate has a BS in a CLIA-approved program, MLS certification or eligibility (ASCP preferred), and at least 2 years of clinical lab experience; 5 years preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry through a CLIA-approved program (required).
• MLS certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (required).
• For RSFH, if registry eligible, must achieve certification within 12 months from hire date.
• 2 years of clinical lab experience required.
• 5 years of clinical lab experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs the duties of a Medical Lab Scientist.
• Assists Technical Specialist with implementing new procedures and policies.
• Collaborates with the Technical Specialist on proficiency testing to ensure testing is registered, analyzed, and reviewed on deadlines.
• Recommends system changes to improve workflow efficiency and accuracy.
• Creates and updates department schedules for daily operations.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Other duties as assigned.
