Job summary

ENT Specialists of North Florida & Meier Plastic Surgery in St. Johns, FL is seeking a professional Medical Front Office Specialist to be the first point of contact for patients, handling check-in/check-out, scheduling, payments, and insurance verification.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced medical office, with strong customer service, organizational skills, and proficiency in EMR systems (Athena) and office technology. Prior front-office or healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Preferred experience in medical front office, receptionist, or healthcare customer service.
• Experience with insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR and practice management software preferred.
• Understanding of PPO, HMO, Medicare, and commercial plans.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain proficiency in the Practice Management System.
• Greet patients courteously and professionally.
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
• Provide, collect, and review required patient forms and obtain signatures.
• Answer incoming phone calls promptly and assist with scheduling and questions.
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
• Perform patient check-in and check-out processes accurately.
• Collect copays, balances, and other payments per office policy.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations/ referrals as required.
• Assist with scanning, filing, data entry, and other admin tasks.
• Address patient concerns professionally and escalate when appropriate.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and collaborate with staff for efficient operations.
