Job summary

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Completed coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• 1 year hospital/physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.
• Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Ability to work with health care team.
• RHIT/RHIA/CCS-P/CPC/COC/CPC-A credentials are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to determine ICD-10 CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstracts data elements and enters coded information into the designated system.
• Ensures efficient management of medical information and cash flow for unbilled coding reports.
• Keeps informed of ICD-10 CM/CPT guidelines by training and reviewing updates and applies them daily.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
