Job summary

Atrius Health is hiring a Medical Assistant in Boston to support clinicians in routine procedures and testing, ensure accurate EMR updates, and maintain patient flow. You will measure vitals, prep patients for exams, and assist with waived point-of-care tests while updating records and communicating with patients.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency; Medical Assistant Certification
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
• Knowledge of reagent stability and storage
• Understands the testing procedure and factors influencing test results
• Computer experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs; EMR experience

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize patient appointment availability
• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy and procedures
• Prepare patient for examination; Measures vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, weight, and height
• Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department
• Advises patients of preparation or pre-visit testing required for exams specific to the department
• Ensures EMR is updated with medical information including demographics, medications and allergies
• Keeps patients informed of visit status and delays
• Reconcile medications and set up pending refills; Discontinues inactive prescriptions
• Orders and performs point of care testing (waived testing) such as strep, urine, hCG and glucose
