Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency required.
• Graduate of medical assistant certification program preferred.
• ACLS may be required depending on specialty; BLS preferred with 30 days to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate efficient patient flow to optimize appointment availability.
• Greet patients and escort to exam rooms per policy.
• Record vital signs and prepare patients for examinations.
• Assist clinicians with routine procedures and tests; communicate pre-visit requirements.
• Ensure EMR is updated with current medications, allergies and encounters.
• Reconcile medications and manage pending refills; stop inactive prescriptions.
• Address basic patient concerns and assist with clerical tasks as needed.
• Order and perform point-of-care tests (strep, urine, hCG, glucose).
