Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a Medical Assistant to provide high-quality, direct patient care in a team-based Primary Care setting at Mt. Auburn. You will support efficient administrative and clinical operations and work with diverse patients and staff.

The role emphasizes managing patient flow, accurate vitals, phlebotomy, immunizations, EHR documentation, and population health outreach. Strong computer skills and HS diploma are required, MA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Health Science preferred.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Demonstrated Medical Assistant competencies within one year of hire.
• Basic familiarity with computers; able to navigate basic web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Develops empathetic relationships with patients, families and colleagues to support patient care goals.
• Assists patient during visits; manages flow, communicates delays, updates meds and allergies.
• Communicates effectively with patient and team; hands off to provider with necessary information.
• Performs MA duties such as vital signs, EKGs, point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, immunizations, and assisting procedures.
• Supports population health through outreach and health coaching; assists with data gathering.
• Maintains sterile, stocked equipment and clean workspaces; manages PHI per HIPAA requirements.
• Uses EHR to queue prescriptions, document tasks, and assist with test/orders in the system.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests; verifies insurance, referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Identifies OSHA compliance issues and ensures patient safety; reports adverse events.
