Beth Israel Lahey Health–Mt. Auburn Primary Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide high-quality direct patient care within a team-based model. The role supports efficient administrative and clinical practice operations, including vital signs, phlebotomy, immunizations, and patient education.

The MA will work with diverse patient populations, manage EHR documentation, and coordinate with providers to ensure smooth visit flow and accurate billing. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in Health Science preferred.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Develops long-term empathetic relationships with patients and families to contribute to patient care.
• Assists patient during visits: facilitates flow, informs of delays, updates medication/allergy lists.
• Queues prescriptions and adds new medications in the EHR; supports review by clinician.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests and verifies insurance including prior authorizations.
• Monitors patient safety and PHI usage; reports adverse events and maintains OSHA compliance.
• Maintains equipment availability, sterilization, and proper inventory control.
