Job summary

Atrius Health, part of the Optum family, seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinicians with routine procedures in the exam room at our Boston practice locations. You will prep patients, take vital signs, and ensure pre-visit work and EMR updates are complete to support efficient visits.

You will assist with point-of-care waived testing, manage patient flow, and help with documentation, medication reconciliation, and patient communication.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit or a Medical Assistant Certification
• Computer experience
• Associate degree in medical assisting or MA certification program (preferred)
• Current American Heart Association BLS or ability to obtain within 30 days
• 1+ years clinical or customer service experience as determined by the department
• Knowledge of reagent stability and storage
• EMR experience and/or aptitude to master EMR

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize appointment availability
• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy and procedures
• Prepare patient for examination; Measures vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse rate, weight, and height
• Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and/or additional tests; advises on pre-visit testing
• Ensure EMR is updated with medical information and demographics
• Keeps patients informed of visit status and delays
• Reconcile medications and set up pending refills; discontinue inactive prescriptions
• Assist with minor patient concerns and complaints
• Orders and performs point of care testing (waived tests)
