Job summary

Atrius Health, part of the Optum family, is hiring a Medical Assistant to support clinicians and maintain EMR data accuracy across our eastern Massachusetts locations. Responsibility includes patient prep, vital signs, point-of-care testing, and maintaining a smooth clinical flow.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit, or a Medical Assistant Certification.
• Computer experience.
• Associate degree in medical assisting or graduate of medical assistant certification program preferred.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred or able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• EMR experience and aptitude to master EMR based on other technology experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize appointment availability.
• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy.
• Prepare patient for examination; measures vital signs.
• Assist clinicians with routine procedures and tests; advise on pre-visit testing.
• Ensure EMR is updated with medical information and demographic data.
• Keep patients informed of visit status and delays.
• Reconcile medications and set up pending refills; discontinue inactive prescriptions.
• Resolve minor patient concerns and complaints as appropriate.
• Order and perform point-of-care testing (waived tests).
