Save-A-Lot is seeking a Meat Manager to lead the meat department, schedule staff, and manage inventory, pricing and merchandise for maximum profitability. The role requires hands-on experience with cutting, weighing and labeling, as well as customer service responsibilities and adherence to sanitation standards.

The candidate will direct product preparation, coordinate orders for ads, and supervise daily operations in a refrigerated environment.

Qualifications

• Pre-employment drug screen required.
• Must read and write.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add/subtract/multiply/divide).
• Lift and stack up to 100 pounds.
• Read, write and follow written instructions.
• Travel to and from work as needed.
• Operate and coordinate use of meat-processing equipment as required.
• Work shifts up to 8 hours typically.
• Assist customers and employees as needed.
• Prepare, weigh, package and price meat products to maximize gross profit.
• Schedule and supervise meat department staff.
• Maintain accurate sales and inventory records.
• Perform freshness checks and re-condition products.
• Sweep, clean and mop the department area.
• Maintain sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and control all aspects of the meat department operations.
• Schedule work and supervise meat department staff to meet goals.
• Oversee ordering to support ads and maximize gross and net profit.
• Unload shipments and process meat items; cut, weigh, package and stock products.
• Rotate stock, check code dates and ensure product freshness.
• Assist customers, take special cuts, and maintain departmental records.
