Job summary

Lowes Foods is seeking a Meat Department Manager to lead a fast-paced team in the meat department. The role focuses on delivering excellent guest service while meeting budgeted financial goals and maintaining high product standards.

You will oversee scheduling, training, sanitation, pricing audits, and collaborative efforts with store leadership to ensure a selling culture and safe, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus 3-4 years of progressive supermarket experience.
• Must be 18 years old.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs continuously.
• Knowledge of meat operations.
• Ability to supervise and develop staff.
• Strong communication and guest service skills.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure guests receive polite, friendly service from the meat department.
• Accountable for achieving budgeted financial results.
• Prepare product for sale (cut, slice, trim, wrap, weigh, and price) according to standards.
• Support in-store selling culture through merchandising and weekly sales meetings.
• Handle department scheduling.
• Maintain compliance with company standards (ALI audits).
• Provide performance feedback and conduct regular reviews.
• Develop staff and plan talent development.
• Ensure sanitation and safe food handling.
• Maintain coolers and freezers to standard.
• Execute weekly pricing audits, pull lists, and flyer recaps.
• Own the meat department and coordinate with DSD Receiver and scan coordinator.
• Create an enthusiastic, guest-focused selling environment.
• Ensure compliance with all laws and company policies.
• Maintain safe department for guests and hosts.
• Perform PA announcements.
• Perform other tasks assigned by store manager.
