Blue Origin is seeking a Materials and Process Engineer II specializing in Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) to design, develop, and implement materials and processes for space vehicles. You will select, test, and characterize materials for extreme thermal environments, and collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to integrate requirements into vehicle design.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of Materials and Process Engineering experience.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings/models and apply their intent.
• Experience coordinating test labs or vendors and conducting test campaigns.
• Experience working independently to drive projects to closure.
• Must be U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead material test campaigns, from planning and vendor coordination to data delivery.
• Evaluate materials for TPS with attention to mechanical, thermal, and environmental performance.
• Manage fabrication, hardware builds, and lab characterization activities.
• Maintain traceability of specimens, lots, and batches for data pedigree.
