Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Materials and Process Engineer II specializing in Thermal Protection Systems (TPS). You will lead material test campaigns, evaluate and select TPS materials, and manage fabrication and lab characterization for extreme thermal environments.

In this role you will create test procedures, contribute to design integration, and support TPS production and refurbishment. A BS in a related field and 2+ years of experience are required; MS/PhD are preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Materials Science, Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years in Materials and Process Engineering.
• Experience with test campaigns and vendor coordination.
• US citizenship or eligible to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Lead material test campaigns from planning to data delivery.
• Evaluate and select materials for TPS considering properties and environment.
• Manage test article fabrication, hardware builds, and lab characterization.
• Maintain traceability of specimens, lots, and batches.
• Create, review, and maintain test procedures and specs.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing to integrate material requirements.
• Support TPS production, integration, and refurbishment.
• Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances.
