Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is seeking a skilled Ctrl Systems Engineer / Automation Engineer to support automated material handling equipment for a major online retailer. You will join a team focused on reliability, safety, and performance across conveyors, sortation, scanners, and SCADA systems.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting PLC/RSLogix, working with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms, coordinating with site teams, and driving continuous improvements from concept through implementation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred with 2–5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection and programming.
• 2+ years of PLC programming experience.
• 2+ years of robotics system components and controls.
• 2+ years of SCADA systems.
• Ability to be available and work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
• Ability to independently solve problems with limited oversight.
• Meet the physical requirements of this role including heavy lifting.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by complying with codes, regulations, and directives.
• Troubleshoot and modify software programs for material handling control systems (PLC/PC, AB PLC platforms).
• Act as first level escalation in troubleshooting on-site and remotely, including after hours.
• Inspect systems to ensure operation meets design specifications.
• Oversee development scope, scheduling, and inspection of outside contractors.
• Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
• Monitor industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS-I) and motor controls.
• Monitor MHE metrics and coordinate with site teams to resolve issues.
• Communicate with leadership and maintenance teams on timelines and impacts.
