Job summary

CBRE is seeking an Automation Engineer to support advanced automation systems for mission critical facilities. You will optimize preventive maintenance, diagnose complex issues, and improve performance of conveyors, sortation, PLCs, scanners, vision systems, print-and-apply equipment, and SCADA platforms.

The role emphasizes uptime, safety, and operational excellence, with opportunities to work on state-of-the-art automation and control systems across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience; degree preferred.
• Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection and programming.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by complying with codes, regulations, and safety directives.
• Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems (PLC/PC, Allen Bradley Controllogix/Compactlogix, RSLogix 5000).
• Provide first-level escalation support on-site and remotely, including after-hours responses.
• Inspect systems to ensure equipment operates within design parameters and client requirements.
• Oversee development scope, work requests, scheduling, and external contractors.
• Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
• Monitor industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS-I) and motor control systems.
• Communicate with leadership and maintenance teams about timelines and impacts.
