Job summary

Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking a Settlement Operations Manager to optimize the firm's mass tort settlements. You will design intake, tracking, QA, and reporting procedures, and serve as the SME for the team’s case management platforms.

You will coordinate with lead paralegals and attorneys to standardize practices, manage data across systems, and oversee payment tracking and lien/QSF coordination. This attorney-support role emphasizes process leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in mass torts, complex litigation, or settlement administration.
• Paralegal certification is a plus, but not required.
• Experience building, documenting, or standardizing processes across multiple teams or matters.
• Experience with legal case management, claims, or CRM systems and SQL- or database-backed platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to build recurring reports.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level technical and administrative support to attorneys managing mass tort settlements, including data management, tracking, reporting, and QA.
• Serve as the primary SME on case management and settlement tracking systems for mass tort resolution.
• Design and document intake, data entry, tracking, and reporting protocols under attorney direction.
• Maintain QA processes, run recurring reports, and track remediation to closure.
• Lead intake of case and claim information and reconcile inventories against firm records.
• Oversee import/export workflows and coordinate with vendors to expand capabilities.
• Translate business needs into system requirements and participate in design and testing.
• Ensure data alignment across firm systems and third-party portals; resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain settlement payment tracking as record of truth for payments, taxes, and expenses.
• Coordinate lien resolution and QSF data with administrators and clients.
• Provide training and reference materials to staff on protocols and system use.
• Perform other duties related to settlement operations.
