Job summary

Orion Marine Group in Federal Way, WA, seeks an on-site Project Engineer to support our self-perform marine and heavy civil construction operations. Travel to active projects across the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii is required.

You will develop bid packages, interpret plans, schedule work, monitor costs, procure subcontractors and materials, and coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and foremen to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Science, Construction Management, or related discipline and 2 years of work experience is required.
• Heavy Civil Construction and/or Marine Construction experience is preferred.
• Experience involving marine construction, heavy civil infrastructure, ports, marine terminals, bridges, piers, wharves, pile driving, deep foundations, marine concrete, dredging, waterfront structures, or similar self-perform construction projects is preferred.
• The incumbent must have a working knowledge of Project Management & Administration, Marine Construction, Heavy Civil Construction, Materials Procurement, Estimating, Scheduling, Project Tracking Software, Cost Control, Engineering & Project Standards, and Safety & Environmental Compliance.

Responsibilities

• Works with the Project Management Team to ensure the successful completion of ongoing or new projects.
• Monitors actual costs and completes current project(s) accounting for materials, services, labor, and other associated costs.
• Develops bid packages for subcontractors.
• Procures subcontractors, permanent materials, consumables, and services from suppliers for current projects as required by project needs.
• Interprets project plans and specifications.
• Schedules project work activities according to plan timelines to ensure timely project completion.
• Provides interface with project team members, suppliers, customers, and others who are involved in project work.
• Works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and craft personnel in support of Orion's self-perform marine and heavy civil construction operations.
• Travels to active construction projects as required. Travel and the ability to work out-of-town for extended periods of time are required for this position.
• Ensures that project team members are provided a safe work environment and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and policies.
• Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance with State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
• Assists in the development of bid proposals for upcoming marine construction and services projects.
