Job summary

Joseph Michaels International in the Saint Joseph, MI area is seeking a Manufacturing HR Coordinator to support hourly production staff and leaders in a fast-paced automotive environment. Responsibilities include recruiting, onboarding, HRIS/payroll data entry, compliance, and employee relations, with a strong emphasis on engagement and culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma; post education is highly preferred
• At least two years of experience in a similar human resources role
• Experience supporting HR functions in manufacturing environments
• Well-rounded HR generalist background
• Experience recruiting general labor positions

Responsibilities

• Daily Staff & Leadership Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for hourly personnel and production leaders on attendance, policies, performance, and general inquiries.
• Recruiting & Onboarding: Partner with the HR Manager and third-party staffing agencies to recruit for hourly manufacturing positions, complete new-hire paperwork, and facilitate onboarding/orientation.
• HRIS, Payroll & Data Entry: Handle extensive data entry into payroll and HRIS systems, support timekeeping/payroll processes, complete physical and electronic filing, and maintain accurate employee records.
• Compliance & Leave Administration: Assist with compliance audits, ensure adherence to labor laws and company policies, track required employee training, and help administer FMLA, leaves of absence, and Workers’ Compensation.
• Culture, Engagement & Operations: Lead employee recognition, wellness programs, and team event planning, while overseeing operational tasks like managing the uniform program and third-party vendor.
