Job summary

Blue Origin in Kent, WA, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems for production and operations. You will drive DFM, DFA, DFT, and integrate with design, quality, and supply chain teams to improve timelines and reduce costs.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 5+ years in manufacturing/industrial/process engineering, and ability to work second shift.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role.
  • 1+ years creating English work instructions.
  • Must be able to work second shift and move shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support industrialization of new products in fluids, avionics, optics, antennas, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Contribute to DFM/DFA/DFT for reliable space vehicle manufacturing.
  • Translate requirements into robust manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with design, QA, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate space-ready builds.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions and process flows.
  • Evaluate new manufacturing technologies and methods (composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
  • Support root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for reliability.
  • Ensure work aligns with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new lines.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction.
