Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Kent, WA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III to lead design and deployment of efficient manufacturing systems for aerospace production. You will drive DFx, quality controls, and supplier collaboration to shorten lead times and reduce costs across production lines.

The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing/industrial engineering, experience with DFx/DFM/DFT, GD&T, BOM, and a track record in high-rate assemblies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering roles.
• 1+ years creating English work instructions; ability to work second shift with flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as fluids, avionics, optics, antennas, and mechanical assemblies.
• Contribute to design for manufacturability, design for assembly, and design for test to build reliable space vehicles.
• Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate space-grade builds.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process flows, tool designs, and inspection plans.
• Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (composites, machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
• Support root cause analysis of non-conformances; implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
• Ensure all work aligns with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality standards and safety requirements.
• Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
• Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reductions to scale mission goals.
