Job summary

Blue Origin in Kent, WA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations team. You will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure quality control, and optimize supply chain logistics across Production/Operations.

You will collaborate with design, quality, and production to shorten build timelines, develop documentation, and evaluate new manufacturing technologies such as composites and additive manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or related accredited field).
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions.
  • Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts; extended hours possible.

Responsibilities

  • Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as fluids, avionics, optics, antennas, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT) to build reliable vehicles for space exploration.
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin’s mission.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods, such as composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, and advanced assembly.
  • Support root‑cause analysis of process or product non‑conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.
  • Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
  • Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale.
