Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our plant running smoothly in Wilson, NC. You’ll troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced food processing environment, using welding, fabrication, and PLC/blueprint reading skills.

You’ll review work orders in SAP, perform preventive maintenance, and act quickly on emergencies to minimize downtime while adhering to GMPs and LOCKOUT/TAGOUT procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment in a food processing environment.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Familiarity with SAP work orders.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders with tools, equipment, time, parts, and supplies; use SAP to create work orders.
• Monitor machinery in operation; disassemble, troubleshoot, replace faulty parts, and test.
• Fabricate replacement parts using welding and sheet metal.
• Install and maintain electrical, piping, and mechanical systems; ensure safety and specs.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and GMP/lockout/tagout protocols.
