Job summary

The Maintenance Technician role at Smithfield Foods keeps our plant running smoothly, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced food processing environment. You’ll apply electrical controls, fluid power, welding and fabrication skills to solve complex issues and keep production on track.

You’ll handle work orders in SAP, respond to emergencies, perform preventive maintenance, install and maintain systems, and follow safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years of related experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing, or 4 years of direct experience.
• Technical diploma/associate degree in maintenance or vocational field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Efficient work order and emergency response using SAP; diagnose from blueprints and manuals.
• Hands-on maintenance and equipment repair, preventive maintenance on pumps and packaging equipment.
• Install and maintain mechanical and electrical systems; ensure manufacturer specs and safety compliance.
• Technical problem-solving with tools and devices; follow preventive/predictive maintenance schedules.
• Adhere to safety protocols including LOCKOUT/TAGOUT and GMPs to maintain a safe work environment.
