Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our plant running smoothly in a fast-paced food processing environment. You’ll maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment, applying expertise in electrical controls, fluid power, welding, and fabrication to minimize downtime.

You’ll work from plans and manuals, perform preventive maintenance, follow GMPs and safety protocols, and use SAP to manage work orders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or 4 years direct experience in industrial maintenance
• Vocational/Technical diploma or associate degree preferred
• Ability to operate forklift or similar equipment
• Read and follow work orders, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals

Responsibilities

• Efficient Work Order & Emergency Response - review work orders, use SAP to create work orders, respond to emergencies
• Hands-On Maintenance & Equipment Repair - monitor machinery, disassemble and repair, weld and fabricate parts, perform preventive maintenance
• Installation & System Maintenance - install and maintain mechanical equipment, piping and electrical controls
• Technical Skills & Problem-Solving - use hand tools, follow preventive maintenance schedules
• Safety First - follow all safety protocols including LOCKOUT/TAGOUT and GMPs
