Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our fast-paced food processing plant running reliably. You’ll troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment, read blueprints, and collaborate across teams to minimize downtime.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1+ years in industrial maintenance or 4 years in related experience, and forklift operation and SAP experience are preferred. We offer competitive pay, benefits, and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing, or 4 years in related maintenance experience.
• Vocational or technical diploma/associate degree preferred.
• Ability to operate powered industrial trucks and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Efficient Work Order & Emergency Response – review orders, use SAP to create work orders, respond to emergencies quickly.
• Hands-On Maintenance & Equipment Repair – monitor machinery, troubleshoot, disassemble, replace parts and test.
• Installation & System Maintenance – install and maintain mechanical, electrical, piping systems to spec.
• Technical Skills & Problem-Solving – use hand tools, follow preventive maintenance schedules.
• Safety First – follow lockout/tagout and GMPs to ensure a safe workplace.
