Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Nashville, TN is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our plant running smoothly by maintaining and repairing a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced food processing environment.

You will work with electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, welding, and fabrication to diagnose issues and perform preventive maintenance, ensuring downtime is minimized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment, or 4 years direct experience.
• Technical diploma or associate preferred.
• Ability to read and follow work orders and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders and respond to emergencies using proper tools and parts.
• Perform preventive and routine maintenance on pumps, packaging, slicing equipment, and other mechanical systems.
• Disassemble, diagnose, repair, and test mechanical and electrical equipment; fabricate replacement parts when needed.
• Install and maintain systems including electrical, piping, and process utilities; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Follow lockout/tagout and GMP procedures to maintain a safe workplace.
