Job summary

Smithfield is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our plant running smoothly in a fast-paced food processing environment. You will troubleshoot electrical controls, fluid power, and mechanical systems, perform preventive maintenance, and craft replacement parts using welding and fabrication.

Ideal candidates have a GED or high school diploma and some industrial maintenance experience; technical training is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent required; 1+ years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience preferred.
• Technical diploma/associate degree in maintenance or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders and emergency requests; determine tools, parts, and time needed.
• Inspect and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment; perform repairs.
• Disassemble, replace faulty parts, and reassemble machinery; test functionality.
• Fabricate replacement parts using welding, cutting, and sheet metal work.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and safety protocols to minimize downtime.
