Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our fast-paced food processing plant. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment, ensuring continuous production and safety compliance.

The role requires hands-on expertise in electrical controls, fluid power, welding, and fabrication, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work across teams on complex equipment issues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years of related maintenance experience in industrial/meat manufacturing, or 4 years direct experience.
• Technical/ vocational diploma or associate degree preferred.
• Ability to operate forklift, genie lift, or scissor lift.
• Read and follow work orders and equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders to assess tools, parts, and manpower needed for each task.
• Use SAP to create work orders and track maintenance activities.
• Respond quickly to emergency calls with appropriate tools to restore operations.
• Read blueprints and wiring diagrams to diagnose and repair complex issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, packaging and slicing equipment to minimize downtime.
• Disassemble and repair mechanical equipment; fabricate parts when necessary.
• Install and maintain mechanical systems and electrical controls according to specs and safety regulations.
