Job summary

Smithfield Foods is hiring a Maintenance Technician to keep our plant running smoothly in Wilson, NC. You will troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced food processing environment, using SAP for work orders and reading blueprints and schematics as needed.

You’ll perform preventive maintenance, fabricate replacement parts, install new equipment, and ensure safety standards such as LOCKOUT/TAGOUT and GMPs are followed.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial maintenance in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of electrical controls and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Welding and fabrication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders in SAP and prepare tools, parts and manpower for each task.
• Monitor equipment in operation and troubleshoot malfunctions to minimize downtime.
• Disassemble, diagnose, replace faulty parts and reassemble equipment with precision.
• Install and maintain mechanical, electrical and piping systems per specs and safety regs.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and safety protocols (LOCKOUT/TAGOUT, GMPs).
