Job summary

Rivian in Normal, IL seeks a Maintenance Group Leader to manage daily maintenance operations, oversee preventive maintenance, and drive safety across the shop. You will lead a diverse team, coordinate equipment introduction, and develop staff through structured plans.

The role requires 3–5 years in manufacturing leadership, engineering education, and strong communication skills. Expect to travel for training and occasional weekends, with a focus on minimizing downtime.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in a fast-paced manufacturing facility.
• Previous Maintenance Leadership experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or 3–5 years of equivalent professional experience in a plant maintenance leadership position.
• Ability to read and interpret governmental regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups.
• Ability to apply algebra and geometry concepts.
• Ability to solve problems with concrete variables and limited standardization.
• Ability to follow written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
• Ability to communicate in a high-pressure environment.
• Physical ability to stand, sit, lift up to 25 pounds, travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day maintenance team operations.
• Supervise preventive maintenance schedules and inspections.
• Manage shop safety and training.
• Support line maintenance efficiency and equipment introduction.
• Develop team member development plans.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement.
• Foster diversity and inclusive hiring practices.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, welding, and robotic systems.
• Work weekends and extended days as needed.
• Travel off-site for training when required.
• Utilize Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in daily tasks.
