Job summary

The American Red Cross in Portland, ME is seeking a General Maintenance and Fleet Tech to support its 16,000 square foot facility and a fleet of 17 vehicles across three sites. The role focuses on repairs, inspections, and routine maintenance.

Schedule is Mon-Fri 8am-5pm (40 hours) with on-call duties; valid driver’s license required. The offer includes a $1,500 sign-on bonus and up to $8,000 annual on-call pay. Benefits include medical, dental, 401(k), and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
• Skills and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair facilities and properties including routine tasks; patch holes, paint structures, install minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems.
• Move and store furniture and equipment as needed.
• Estimate time and material costs for various projects and requisition supplies.
• May drive to other locations and operate boilers, chillers, motors, pumps and related equipment.
• Perform work in accordance with safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
