Job summary

The American Red Cross in Portland, ME is seeking a General Maintenance and Fleet Tech II to maintain and repair 16,000 sq ft facilities across three locations. This role includes on-call duties, driving between sites, and ensuring safe, compliant operation of electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities cover routine maintenance, inspections, and coordination with volunteers while supporting a fleet of 17 vehicles.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or equivalent.
• Experience: at least 3 years in maintenance, painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing or electrical work.
• Skills: valid driver's license and clean DMV; strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication.
• Willingness to perform on-call duties and travel between locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on facilities, machinery and equipment.
• Inspect and test systems; diagnose and repair electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and masonry issues.
• Document work for regulatory compliance; provide guidance to volunteers.
• Operate tools and assist with safety procedures.
