Job summary

The American Red Cross in Portland, ME is seeking a General Maintenance and Fleet Tech to support facilities and a fleet across multiple sites. The role covers general upkeep, repairs, and preventative maintenance with on-call duties and a 40-hour Mon-Fri schedule.

You will perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and equipment repairs under supervision and contribute to a safe, compliant work environment. A valid driver’s license and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or equivalent required.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Skills & Abilities: Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record; basic computer skills; strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication; painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work experienced.
• Travel: Will drive vehicle to other locations; valid license with good driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair facilities and properties; patch holes, repair floors, paint structures and equipment.
• Install, test, and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps, and related mechanical equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs; requisition supplies and equipment.
• May plant and tend flowerbeds, prune trees, water landscapes, and manage snow removal.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed; work safely under procedures.
