Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) seeks a Maintenance/Construction Technician II to service William B. Umstead State Park in Raleigh, performing hands-on trade work on buildings, grounds and equipment.

The role supports multiple disciplines and may supervise staff or volunteers on special projects. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm with on-call requirements; expect outdoor work in variable conditions and occasional after-hours or weekend duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1 year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas.
• Demonstrated work experience performing trades in at least two of the following: carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or auto mechanics.
• Must have a valid driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and facility maintenance, and/or auto mechanics.
• Operate large and small equipment and/or tools.
• Maintain records and assist in housekeeping.
