Job summary

The Townsend Hotel is seeking a Banquet Manager in Birmingham, MI, to lead all hotel banquet and event operations with luxury-service standards. You will oversee banquet teams, staffing, and costs while collaborating with Catering, Sales, and Culinary to deliver memorable experiences for guests.

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years in banquet/hospitality management, strong leadership, and a proven track record of coordinating weddings, corporate events, and conferences in a luxury setting.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of progressive banquet or hospitality management experience.
• Luxury hotel, resort, convention hotel, or upscale event experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and execute banquet event orders accurately.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with labor management, scheduling, and cost control.
• Professional appearance and polished guest-service approach.
• Availability of working evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended event hours as required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of all banquet events, including weddings, corporate meetings, social events, conferences, and special functions.
• Maintain floor presence during events to ensure client and guest satisfaction.
• Review event orders and ensure operational details are communicated to the banquet team.
• Attend BEO meetings and stay up to date with change logs.
• Coordinate with Catering and Sales to understand requirements and timelines.
• Coordinate with Executive Chef and culinary team for food prep, timing, and service.
• Oversee ordering and inventory, using BirchStreet as needed.
• Lead pre-event briefings and supervise banquet setup, service, and breakdown.
• Ensure equipment and decor are arranged per event specs and hotel standards.
• Provide hands-on leadership during events and resolve issues quickly.
