Job summary

Blue Origin in Florida's Space Coast seeks a hands-on CNC Machinist & Programmer to turn engineering intent into flight‑ready parts. Set up and run 3‑axis and 5‑axis mills and lathes, create NX CAM programs, and perform final inspection with precision tools.

Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to meet safety and schedule demands. Requires 5+ years in CNC machining and programming, GD&T ASME Y14.5, NX CAM, and experience with HAAS machines and multi‑axis work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus technical training or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5+ years CNC machining and programming experience with tight tolerances.
• Ability to read drawings and GD&T ASME Y14.5 at a working level.
• Proficient with G-code editing and CNC programming concepts.
• Experience holding tight tolerances and selecting inspection methods.
• Strong shop math, trigonometry, and basic computer skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot and communicate with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with safe, efficient prove-out and setup practices.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate 3‑axis and 5‑axis CNC mills and lathes to produce precision parts.
• Create NX CAM programs, select tools, and define workholding and cutting parameters.
• Perform complete job execution from planning through inspection with documentation for repeatability.
• Optimize feeds, speeds, toolpaths, and setup to improve cycle time and surface finish.
• Machine and finish components in aluminum, stainless steels, Inconel, and Monel.
• Conduct in-process and final inspection with micrometers, calipers, and bore gages.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to meet requirements and schedules.
