Job summary

Estes Express Lines seeks an Operations Manager to lead a busy Service Center, directing up to 450+ employees across multiple shifts in a fast-paced LTL environment. You will ensure safe, on-time freight movement, maintain strong customer relationships, and drive continuous improvements.

Responsibilities include coaching, scheduling, hiring, training, safety compliance, KPI attainment, route coordination, and incident investigations.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising up to 450+ employees in a large Service Center.
• Knowledge of all aspects of an LTL service center preferred.
• Strong computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office a plus).
• Proven leadership ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, mentor and terminate employees.
• Customer service focus and ability to interact with customers professionally.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Strong planning and organization skills.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials preferred.
• Willing to work 50 hours per week on various shifts, including nights/weekends.
• Must lift approx. 20 lbs. or more as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct employees: set goals, monitor performance, coach, counsel, and develop.
• Oversee dock planning, scheduling, and efficient, safe LTL operations.
• Hire, train, and terminate; ensure proper paperwork and follow-up.
• Coordinate Service Center operations in the absence of the Manager.
• Enforce safety rules, company policies, and government regulations.
• Meet all KPIs and ensure timely pickup and delivery of freight.
• Direct investigations into customer complaints and implement solutions.
• Coordinate drivers and assign trucks and routes for freight movement.
• Record transport details (departure times, deliveries, etc.).
• Conduct safety interviews and provide safety training as needed.
