Job summary

Estes Express is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the Service Center's LTL operations, overseeing 450+ employees across multiple shifts, ensuring safe, on-time freight movement and strong customer relations.

You will hire, train, coach, set goals, manage dock planning, and monitor KPIs; ensure compliance with safety rules, government regs, and company policies; coordinate drivers and routes; handle investigations into customer complaints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent background; college degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of LTL service center operations preferred.
• Proficient with AS/400 and MS Office.
• Strong leadership including hiring, coaching, training, and development.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Ability to work 50 hours per week and shift flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead, guide and direct employees to include setting goals, monitoring performance, coaching, counseling and development; manage an efficient, safe LTL operation with dock planning.
• Involved in hiring, training and terminations; ensure paperwork and follow-ups are completed per guidelines.
• Administer and carry out portions of the Service Center Business plan as set by the Service Center Manager.
• Manage all Service Center operations in the absence of the Manager.
• Enforce all company policies, safety rules, and government regulations; meet KPIs.
• Ensure timely pickup and delivery and verify freight for billing.
• Oversee vehicle loading for proper handling and distribution of freight.
